Pontificate

Pontificate
(pahn-TIH -feh- kayt)

Definition: To talk pompously, dogmatically; to bloviate.
Origins: French pontiff, meaning 'pope,' hence the dogmatic sense; originally meant "to perform the pope's duties."
Sentence: "No need to pontificate, Walter," said Rachel. "We all get the idea."
