Sabotage

Definition: To intentionally destroy, damage, or obstruct (something) for strategic purposes.
Origins: During the Industrial Revolution, farmers who had been forced to move to the city were angry that the factories had fenced off the free range. They got revenge by throwing their wooden shoes into the factory machinery, which broke the machines. The wooden shoes were called sabots. The action was called sabotage.
Sentence: "The rebels sabotaged the dictator's motorcade, slashing the tires of several vehicles."
