Random Acts of Poesy

Mental Diary
All the words I do not say
Build up in me, day after day
A thousand things I only thought
But don’t say, ‘cause I ought not.
All the things that I wrote down
‘Cause I was scared to say them aloud
All the things, word after word
Scribbled down while I was bored
All the things I never wrote
‘Cause they were too weird to quote.
If I said them – and I could –
Would it do me any good?

Written on a Candy Wrapper
What I miss
And what I gain,
I think about it
As it rains.
Questions asked
I'll never see,
Or else answers are
Unknown to me.

The Story of the Sun
What does the sun see
Every day
Looking down on us?
All the blood and guts
And hurt and healing
And stories.
It sees the lies and truths
Crimes and kindness
Love and hate
Citadels and trees.
It sees the hungry,
The wealthy,
The poetic,
The silent,
The brazen,
The peaceful.
The sun sees us
All of us
And shines on us just the same.
