The Thiry-First

People-watching is a fun activity. Did you go trick-or-treating a couple nights ago, or pass out candy? Or did you hide behind your curtains, pretending not to be home? Either way, you probably saw some interesting characters on October 31st. I kept a tally:

• 3 Spidermen, at least
• 1 night fury
• 1 "Poppy," from Trolls
• 1 Baby Yoda
• 3 fairies
• 2 ballerinas
• 3 angels
• 1 cheerleader
• 1 Captain America
• 1 ninja 
• 1 king riding a snail
• 4 zombies, at least
• 4 ghoulish/grim-reaper-ish characters, at least

Your writing prompt: what did you see on Halloween this year? Did anyone/anything scare you? Was there that one crazy house that no one would approach? (And did it, as all super-scary houses should, give out king-size candy bars?) Who had the biggest pumpkin, the scariest pumpkin, the pumpkin that was rotten and moldy? Who passed out pencils or fruit or worse, toothbrushes? If you refrained from participation, as I know many of you did for one reason or another, did people still knock? Did anyone peer through your windows?

It's amazing what one will see if they're looking, and everyone, for one reason or another, is looking on Halloween night.
