People do not say everything they think. This is a good thing, although sometimes frustrating, because people also like honesty.
Writing prompt: write a scene with dialogue, focusing on one character in particular - first person or third person closed would work well for this. It helps if said character is not overly honest, as some characters are bound to be. Show your character's thoughts as well as his words. The difference might be so severe as to be humorous - or so severe as to make your reader scream at the character to say what he's thinking. Either way, you've succeeded.
