Staring

Fantasy
O the beauty of the world!
Everywhere I look,
I see the Lord.
Everywhere I go,
Something is new
And wonderful.
The sky is a different blue by the sea,
The grass is a different ilk in the South,
The air is cooler,
And flowers brighter,
In the mountains.
There are days I believe
I am of elsewhere.
Days I can see
The golden palaces of lost kingdoms
From my window,
Days I adventure in far-off woods,
Days I live for foreign rivers and trees.
There are nights, too:
Nights of Northern stars
And deathly silence,
That make me think of other worlds.
Perhaps I have another realm
To which I belong,
But I know that this,
Earth,
Is my home.

As Darkness Falls
The windchime clangs like a bell
Heralding the end of summer.
The roses give their last hurrah.
There used to be tomatoes in these beds
But no more.
Wind tosses the trees.
It's fall at last
And the cold is coming.
