Where does one get names, for characters, cities, countries, castles? Here are a few spots:
- Genealogies in the Bible are full of the weirdest names you'll ever hear.
- Mailboxes often have names written on their sides.
- Street signs, because streets are often named after people.
- Cemeteries. I always feel guilty about this one, but headstones have some great names on them.
- Stories people tell, as long as the people in those stories are not famous or alive.
- Names of things. I named a character Sharon after the Rose of Sharon.
- A letter of the alphabet. Pick one at random and find a name that starts with it.
- Stick two words together. Good for fantastical last names.
