Heroes
When rabbits are not timid,
And fire does not consume;
When fairies are a fearsome sight,
And orphans find a home;
When noble heroes dress in black,
And lions bow to pray;
When dragons stoop to human form,
And elves are sombre, clad in gray-
Then providential things are at work in this land.
What form they'll take, I do not know.
But keep your eyes open for impossible wonders:
Who knows what signs will knock at you door?
Battle Cry
When the war starts,
I will be there.
I may not take up arms,
But I'll fight with words.
Through the dark times
And the sorrow,
I will spread hope and truth,
And the pen will be my sword.
Knowing good wins
And the LORD prevails,
I will face the days ahead
With a storyteller's heart.
And when the day comes,
The day of vict'ry,
I'll rejoice in the advent
Of a new and glorious morn.
Memory of Moonlight
A silver lawn and still ghosts of shadows
Criss-crossing branches of moonlit willow
Fall dark on the ground.
Moon unseen beyond the roofline
Slim grey clouds and pricks of blue light
Sight without a sound.
