The Forming of Our Flag
When General Washington wanted a flag
He called Betsy Ross and her sewing bag
Betsy decided on a little red
To stand for the bravery of those who are dead.
Then Ms. Ross chose some white
Representing America's purity and light.
And at last she picked out a bit of blue
Marking the soldiers loyal and true.
Then she cut out all of thirteen stars
To symbolize the colonies of this nation of ours.
So when the flag of America flies above a crowd,
Stand and salute, make our fore-fathers proud!
